I have wanted a 4runner for years, I finally got a lil' first gen. I am cleaning it up and servicing it for the next week and I can't wait to gently take it in the woods. My wife and I just love florida and have been here since the early 70's. We are locatd in the Brooksville area N of Tampa and hope to meet up with other trail riders. Pics soon... :D ...

Nice...

That will look good on the Richloam trails. Or should I say waterways.

What type of interior things were you looking for other than seats???

Well, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do w/the int yet. The truck only has 130K on it but there were young kids and a big dog so the int is kinds trashed...lol.. Grape soda, dog hair, toys under the seats...lol.. everything was kinda' sticky..lol.. I was tempted to bed coat the int but, I think I will try to return it closer to stock. I need a new console, wiper arms, the afore mentioned seats, I think I will have to buy new carpet or put some dyna mat in it and then do the carpet myself??.. I just don't know??... I don't think I will take the truck swimming ( even as I say that, I just don't believe it :) ). I'm really just thinking about everything??.. I ripped out the int. and it is sitting there all clean ready to be repaired. I am going to beat the bushes for seats and tires this week....

New Truck

Postby Bomber on Mon Aug 03, 2009 7:55 pm

Congrats Shrike!
You are really gonna enjoy getting out in the Florida woods...they are beautiful and change every time you go. Your truck will serve you well.
Leave the carpet in the trash can...hose out the grape soda and don't worry about impressing anyone in this club. It's about being out there and enjoying it and the comraderie of friends, leaving it the way we found it and protecting it for our following generations. You're in a great location...there's wheelin' 360 degrees from where you are! Look forward to introducing myself and making your acquaintance in the near future. Welcome and best of everything.

Thanks Bomber!!... I contacted "Jims tires" in Dade city on 301, He sold me a set of tires that are the exact same thing as buckshots for only 515 bucks out the door!!... I found a decent set of seats and I am well on my way to making friends w/this truck... I am pressure washing the wheels and heading to Dade city for my new tires now... More photo's soon!!....

Those guys at " Jims tires " in Dade City are great !! Not only did they save me over 270 bucks, they were like a nascar team in there... Me an two other guys off loaded my truck as soon as I pulled up, one guy started on an outside tire machine and the other guy took two wheels inside to a second machine. I went back and fourth between machines and carried my tire/wheel to the balancer where a third guy was balancing... I was outa' there in less than ten minutes!!! Great customer service!! I will buy all my tires there from now on!!...

I did some roaming around on the new tires... I love this little truck, but the tires did not do that well in the sugar... The truck did really well, there is prominent clunking on the driver side, not sure what it is but it did not hinder performance... I'm still learning, can't do anything risky while alone...
