July 4th weekend...

Postby Jerry Dixon on Wed Jun 18, 2008 12:24 pm

FLCA members,

We plan to return to Wallaby Ranch on the July 4th weekend. There are a few small details to work out, but it looks like 99 44/100% sure. Some of us will be there from Thursday afternoon July 3rd until Saturday night or Sunday morning, depending on the number of members who plan on being there Sunday.

For those who have not been to Wallaby before, it offers a lot of things for the 4 wheeler and camper. Here is some info about the Ranch: http://the-proving-ground.com/ And look at some pictures from our annual meeting http://www.flca.org/Meetings/meetfram.htm

We camp in a primitive area, but there are showers and flush toilets located at the main buildings. There is also a swimming pool, cold sodas, water and beer, ice, TV at the cantina, and you can buy breakfast and dinner there. You will see some of the trails on their web site. There are a few areas that offer some nice challenges to mud/water, off camber trails and a bunch of exploring. If you’re new to off roading, this is an ideal place to learn some skills.

Believe me, that swimming pool at 7PM and a cold drink sure is a pleasure after a hot day playing.

Cost is what we are working out, and I will send you info when I find out. Please PM me for the cost and such as I don’t as charges differ with different groups and activity. So I don't want to post up information that may offend other groups. The FLCA will pick up some of the cost.

For more info, post up or PM me…

BUMP...

OK, who's going???

Three nights of camping and playing on their trails, and maybe some new property just down the road with trails etc. on it.

The FLCA will provide Friday night diner, hot dogs and hamburger for the Forth of July evening. Cost for the three nights of camping is $30. We'll also have a raffle on Friday night.

NO FIREWORKS!!!!!!

Don't forget they have a pool and a cantenna with cold soda and beer on tap.

Post up if you are going for either a day or if you will be camping...

As of June 30th,

Jerry Dixon
JD
Jamie
Ricky
Luis
Jim E.
Pete
Omar (?)
Dennis
Karl (Fri.)
Charlie (Fri.)

Thanks,
Jerry Dixon

I do not think anyone out there will be getting this at late Friday evening, most of you are already out at Walloby Ranch I'm sure. I have just gotten agreement from the family to come out early tomorrow morning (Saturday) and camping tomorrow night into Sunday. I just finished packing up the FJC and I'll see you in the morning. :D

Forth of July at Wallaby Pics...

Postby Jerry Dixon on Mon Jul 07, 2008 4:46 pm

We had a nice turnout at Wallaby. A few camped a couple of nights, and a few came by to visit and hit a couple trails and had other family plans.

We have some video that will be posted soon, and others have pictures they will post.

No rain during the runs or locker install, some rain in evening, and actually cool nights...

Pics from Wallaby Ranch on 7/6/08

Postby CoyoteJim on Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:14 pm

Had a great time guys! Here are a few pics I collected. If you want lareger versions check out the Flickr.com site these are hosted from. http://www.flickr.com/skorp62/

Rick follows me through the first mud hole.
Image

Looking good! Dont let up!
Image

Rick was one of the few to cross the creek and fit between the trees.
Image

Image

Gerald and Jamie charging ahead ...
Image

But the ruts had another plan for them ...
Image

Wow these ruts are deep!
Image

Jeff showed up in a shiny almost new looking right hand drive BJ-40 (diesel)
Image

We all finally made it through the first bad muddy ruts, someone else will have to show pics of me being stuck, I was kind of busy - trying to get out!
Image

Dennis half way through the last mud hole on that trail...
Image

After much 1-tire waving, he made it out!
Image

Not to be out-done, Luis also tries the big hole (after most of us had taken the CS bypass )
Image

Half way through he pulled onto the edge for a breather..
Image

Before attempting the final hole and the killer edge it had
Image

Luis steps out to check the line, he finally made it with some synth-line help
Image

All in all, a great day to play in the mud in Central Florida at the Wallaby Ranch. Thanks Malcolm!
