July trail ride...

Postby Jerry Dixon on Wed Jul 08, 2009 10:48 am

How about a ride to the Ocala Forest???

Meeting place: South end of the Forest, CR 42 and FS road 66 (some maps show it as NF 580). It is 2 ¾ miles west of SR 19. GPS shows 28 58’ 34”, 81 41’ 31”.

Date: Saturday, July 18th.

Time: Be at meeting location no later than 10AM, we go to the trails at 10AM, go home time ???

I have not been to this area before, so plan on getting lost at least twice.

Standard FLCA rules, and remember, NO alcoholic beverages allowed, don’t have any with you.

I don’t know what to expect as far as trail surface is like, so be ready for anything. Also it’s July in Florida, HOT HOT HOT, make sure you have plenty of water.

There has been a change on trails in the Forest; as always we will stay on only designated trails as per the new maps. You can download a map set at http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/florida/maps/do ... /Map20.pdf

It’s about a 1.5M file. Out meeting location will be on map 2.

I’ll see you there; I’ll be either in my yellow FJ40, on yellow FJCruiser. The 40 is getting a TBI installed right now, I’ll be working on it right after this notice.

Thanks,
Jerry Dixon

Have to work next Saturday. Won't be making it. :(
Another reason is still haven't quite recovered from breaking a rear axle, two diffs and a front driveshaft last trail ride :? .
Did make it back to florida though. :D

Charlie, did you get your clutch in?

The difference in coordinates is that what I wrote is in degrees, minutes and seconds. Yours are in degrees, minutes and tenths of minutes. They both will get you to the same place.

If you convert your tenths of a minute in seconds in both coordinates, they would be roughly 34 seconds, and 31 seconds.
