Windshield Replacement

How do I do this? I need some help?

Windshield Replacement

Postby sggoat on Tue May 20, 2008 6:00 pm

Need to replace the old cracked wind screen and patch the pits in the lower metal. Can the windshield frame be removed with the top still on?
Also--- has anyone ever replaced the headliner with the top still on?

As far as the windshield frame coming off with the top on, you would have to unbolt the front of the top that connects to the top front of the frame, and then loosen most if not all the bolts that hold the top onto the tub frame and the four small screws where the upper door frame connects to the windshield frame. Don't forget the two bolts that hold the top "posts" that go into the tub just behind the door latches. You may be able to lift it up enough, without taking it completely off, to get the windshield to lay down

Then IF you can undo the windshield hinge pins, or the three screws, you're almost done.

The headliner can be done with the top on the truck, but it's a lot easier with the top off and turned upside down. If you plan to do both the windshield frame work and headliner, I would opt to take the top off...

Good luck,

Sounds like the top is coming off! Thanks for the info. I'll try to get pics for everyone as it slids off.
