Rear Corner Window replacement

How do I do this? I need some help?

Rear Corner Window replacement

Postby sggoat on Tue Jul 22, 2008 8:48 pm

Anyone ever replaced the rear corner window on a '77? Mine blew out after a hot day at work. Went out to get in the rig and when I got in and shut the door, the window shattered. Have one on order from Cruiser Parts-should be here in several days- never installed before. Any help?

heavy string/ light rope is your friend. You may try windex as a lubricant to help. If cruiserparts.net falls through let me know, I have a spare.

Is the gasket in good shape?

I've done it a couple of times. It would be better with two people, one holding the window in position and the other getting the weather stripping to mate up. You can use a piece of cord (not thin string) in the weather stripping channel and some liquid soap, or a thin bent rod with some sort of rubber cover on it (so you don't chip the window or paint). This picture is not for a corner window, but same use of cord...

Good luck, hope this helps.

If your in the Melbourne area after you get it swing by and we can make quick work of it. It is definately easier with a person on the outside of the truck holding the glass while the inside person works the gasket/string angle.

I think I used survey cord last time. It made tinting the rear windows much easier to do with them out of the truck.

Jerry/Bret,
Thanks for the help. I have a friend at work who says he can help. we'll try the windex thing. Cruiser parts came through- got the glass and rubber the other day. Soon as I get back from Vac, I'll try it.

Good luck with it, just take your time and don't pull too hard as it can cut the rubber.
