THE Turkey Trot event...

TURKEY TROT 2009

Sorry for the short notice, but things just came together…

Please post reply with your name(s) about dinner and attendance.

As we will be required to provide insurance for the use of this private property, all users must be current members of the FLCA. The Speedway requires the insurance, and the insurance requires all participants be FLCA and/or TLCA members. Please don’t ask for exceptions, and please don’t bring a Blazer or mud truck or other non-Toyota vehicle to take on the course, this is a Toyota event.

Place: Ocala Speedway

Dates: Sat. Nov. 21 & Sun. Nov. 22

You ask way a Speedway, well, there is an off-road obstacle course on the rear property of the Speedway. The course was put together by the Ocala Jeep Club and they have agreed to let us use it for the weekend.

The cost will be $30 per vehicle from 8AM Saturday, Saturday night dinner, Saturday night camping and Sunday until about 4PM, that's the whole weekend. Saturday only $30, Sunday only $30, dinner only $30. It's $30 no matter how you break it down. It will be primitive camping but there are restrooms available at the Speedway building. We will not be camping Friday night as there is an event at the Speedway that evening and we do want to interfere with their business.

Luis, Archie and I visited the site and watch as Jeeps and other vehicles tried the courses. They range from easy/basic to “what have I done now?”. There are moguls, a rock garden, pyramid of cement blocks, mud run, logs etc. You will have fun, and it will work for beginners and hardcore. Luis will post up some pictures and video of the courses.

As for all of our events, the vehicles will be checked before you are allowed on the courses, and NO alcohol on the courses, save that for the Saturday night dinner and campfire.

The FLCA will provide a meal for Saturday night, menu will be posted shortly. We will have one community campfire on Saturday night.

If you want to check out Hard Rock, it is a couple miles down the road from the Speedway, also some other areas are nearby.

You will need to sign a couple of liability wavers once you get there, one for the Speedway and one for the Ocala Jeep Club. You are responsible for yourself and your actions, no one else.

To get to the Speedway, take I-75 to CR326 (exit 358). There are the normal fast food restaurants and gas stations here. Continue East on CR326 about .7 miles to 25A. Turn North and go about another 1.2 miles and you’ll see the Speedway on your left (West). For you GPS folks, 29 17’ 1.5” 82 11’ 8.33” You can go to Google Earth and type in Ocala Speedway, Ocala, FL. and take a look at the Speedway and the area just behind it. The courses are behind the Speedway and surrounded by orange barrier tape.

More to follow…

EDIT Fri. Nov. 11th - The Saturday night dinner at the Speedway: Ham, yellow rice, potato salad, baked beans. You need to bring your own drinks.

Hey gang!

Sorry, can't make it - bit of a long way to go to get there. :D

Hope you all have a good time, wish that course existed a few years ago...

Sandy wheeled the Tundra this weekend - showed everybody up too!

Take care, everybody!

Re: THE Turkey Trot event...

Hi to all,

In order for us to have a successful event we need to know the amount of people that will be participating. How many of you know about the event and have not replied?
PLEASE let us know ASAP. We need to have a head count for the dinner. You can call me or email me at caraballo8355@earthlink.net or 407-468-8776.

Thanks
Luis
